GTA 6 : Price, Launch Date, Editions & Supported Platforms

GTA 6's release date has been confirmed and official pricing has been released, just over 10 years on from the delayed date. This is the perfect guide for all the gamers in India that know nothing of what to do, how much to save and what is and isn't supported on the console. It's just everything that Rockstar has said and not speculating or guessing on what might have happened or what hasn't.

The official price of GTA 6 is Rs. 12,999/- in India.

At the same time, the Rockstar pre-orders started on 25th June 2026, and the Official Price of Rockstar in PlayStation Store and Xbox Store India (PSN) was also revealed. The information that's all –

The game is offered in two different editions: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. The difference with Rockstar's previous releases, is that this time they have chosen to focus on simplicity, having only two editions at release. None of the collector's or special edition!

For the most part, players will be fine with the Standard Edition. There are not going to be a lot of things that you can't do on you that you will get information about.

But if you're a hardcore GTA player and willing to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into the game, particularly GTA Online, then the extra ₹1,500 will be worth your while. Casual players can easily select to play Standard.

Pre-Order Bonus — Vintage Vice City Pack

Besides that, they will also get pre-order bonus – Vintage Vice City Pack. Vintage Vice City Pack will be given to all those who pre-order any of its editions before November 20th, 2026. A few of the contents of it are listed below:

The Pack, according to the description given on the Rockstar is a "nostalgic homage to the original Vice City days". It isn't only a gorgeous filter, however a bonus.

Supported Platforms

No consoles will be available for GTA 6 other than those that are next generation. The platform(s) listed below have been confirmed:

PC Players: DO NOT take any statement as confirmed which has a release date for PC. Rockstar, at this time, hasn't conveyed a response on whether or not they have any plans to launch GTA 6 on PC or not. Prepare to play on console if you desire to play on launch.

As with the previous (GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2) some sort of PC release should be coming 12-18 months after the consoles are released, which is supposed to be late 2027 this time around.

Why is GTA 6 More Expensive than GTA 5?

However, it's not just that GTA 6 is much larger than GTA 5, but that it's much more expensive, too. GTA 5 launched at $59.99 in 2013. GTA 6 opens at $79.99 — a $20 jump. The reasons might be some of the following:

The game is rumored to be one of the most expensive to be made with GTA 6 with an estimated cost over $1 billion (including marketing).

Better graphics (as already mentioned by some, but there are many this gen that have really stepped their graphics up). It isn't like that GTA 6 will be different, it just a little more.

All new tech: for the first time the game is designed natively for PS5 class systems, and offers ultra high fidelity graphics, a large open world set in Leonida (which is based on Florida), a number of new AI based systems, and dual protagonist narrative.

No 12 gen build: 100% of all the GTA 5 resources are going towards the one build since there is no PS4/Xbox One build to work concurrently.

My Take

I've had my first experience with GTA 6, and it isn't to good.

As far as I know, the price (though high for the Indian games standard) is even more reasonable than I thought it would be and I have been a fan of the series since GTA Vice City. The Standard Edition, priced at ₹5,999 is indeed cheaper than the $79.99 (or about ₹6,700) and this is very much due to the fact that Rockstar has localised the price.

But after sifting through what this additional ₹1,500 will get us for the Ultimate Edition as compared to the Standard Edition, the one word that I can say is, if you're a player that could spend 500+ hours in GTA Online and wants to have everything from the cosmetics in the game from the start, then the Ultimate Edition at ₹1,500 is better. That's not the entire story campaign that is behind the upgrade — and that is the part that I'm really looking forward to.

⚠️ Watch out for fake pre-orders! While conducting my research I found one thing to be aware of, fake pre-orders! I came across several third party sellers, selling GTA 6 at an abnormal price on marketplaces which were not trusted by me. It's best to preorder through the official PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, this way, you will be secure.

Final Verdict

GTA 6 official price in India is now out: GTA 6 Standard will be priced at ₹5999 while the GTA 6 Ultimate will cost ₹7499. Pre-orders are currently on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store and if you're thinking of the long-term, then there's no harm in pre-ordering the Vintage Vice City Pack.

Standard Edition would be better for those who don't wish to have the most sophisticated aspects. If you're a GTA Online enthusiast and can't wait to experience all the exclusive features, as soon as they arrive, then it is worth the extra dollar. In any case, it will be the biggest game launch of the decade at least for India it's at fair pricing.
