This was pre Win installed on the SSD, but now after Win is installed it's less than 8 seconds. I could open a 1Gb video project in less than no time in my video editing software compared to before, when it was extremely frustrating and took 40 seconds or more.
It's the same machine and I don't have any issue with the HDD when it comes to storing applications, but I've found it a problem when I want to run applications from the HDD. Another incident which came close to causing an HDD failure that would have lost the data was when I bumped the laptop off a table, while it was running. The SSD (no moving parts) was not at all impacted. From all of this I was aware that for any drives that I am going to use — it can't be an SSD.
Assuming you are looking to save money, I'd go with the smallest size SSD that you can get to fit your main OS (Windows) and an application and go cheap on the HDD. You will get the best of both worlds, and won't have to break the bank to get them.
